Big Chill Run – 2/18

POST RACE INFORMATION – BIG CHILL RUN

RACE COURSE DISTANCE ANNOUNCEMENT
We had two separate issues related to the course yesterday that we want to make you aware of and want you to know that we will make adjustments for in future races.

#1.  We set out all of the mile markers at 6:30am on race day.  It appears that someone moved several of the mile markers (For sure Mile #1 and #4 because when I came through with the Lead vehicle they were in the wrong locations.  Also, Mile 3 and 5 were knocked down and in the ditch so if you missed seeing them – we are sorry)  To rectify this we will drive the course immediately before the start of the race in the future to ensure the mile markers are in the right location.

#2.  As we were waiting for final approval from the Police Dept. that the roads were secure for the start of the event, we were unaware that the Police Dept. was moving the west 180 degree turnaround away from the intersection approx. 200 feet instead of allowing us to run through the intersection.  (They thought that it was going to be unsafe for cars to have to turnaround at that intersection with runners there – SO THEY JUST MOVED IT).  This resulted in the 5k course being approx. .085 (450 feet) short.  That distance would be 900 FT SHORT for the 10k.

WE WERE UNAWARE THAT THEY MADE THAT CHANGE.

The 5K is a one loop course that winds through the residential area of Pewaukee and the north side of pewaukee lake.  The road paved and plowed so running conditions are generally good for winter running.  There is a uphill section to the course at about mile 1.5 which is challenging.   It is normal winter running.

THe 10K course is a double loop and the  5K course is a single loop.
